Naira Marley, Nigerian singer, has announced an online show to mark what he earlier dubbed ‘Marlian Day’.

The 25-year-old crooner broke the news in a statement released on Monday. The e-concert, themed ‘Gidi Fest’, which is the first of its kind for the artiste during the COVID-19 lockdown, is expected to hold on May 30.

“Marlian Day celebrates our liberty and our resilience through the daily challenges we face in Nigeria and most recently during the COVID-19 crisis,” the statement read.

“Most especially the heroic front line workers making personal sacrifices daily on behalf of Nigeria and humanity.

“Naira Marley shows an early indication of the festival’s London-Lagos connection and there is a natural synergy between his fans, Marlians and The Gidi Tribe.

“They are the new African generation who refuse to take no for an answer and are challenging the status quo to uplift themselves and push forward.

“His adaptability, controversial lyrics, and autonomy has made him one of the most sought-after artists in Africa.”

In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, showbiz moguls and entertainers have leveraged on social media and other online resources to stay connected with their fans and viewers.

It was gathered that the singer would be featuring a slew of his hit songs alongside special guests including WurlD, Zlatan, Zinolesky, Moh Bad, and Cblvck.

The one-hour event is billed for 6:30-7:30.
