The Division 2 datamine reveals future story updates, possible new mode

by

The Division 2 could be getting four seasons worth of content, according to a datamine shared on Reddit.

Ubisoft very recently released a public test server for The Division 2, where players could test out features and provide feedback to Ubisoft before it incorporates any changes to the main game.

Reddit user definitelyanalt16, however, saw a different opportunity and looked into the server’s files to see if it contained any hints about future updates.

They discovered what appears to be hundreds of audio files, some of which could be providing details about future story events.

definitelyanalt16 theorises that there are four seasons worth of new content planned, based on the story beats they were able to piece together, but there’s no hard evidence that that is the case.

Since it potentially contains massive spoilers, we will not be sharing any of the details here but, if you are curious, you can check out the findings yourself on Reddit.

Fans seem excited about this possible ‘skyscraper’ mode (Pic: Ubisoft)

The dataminer also suspects that the files could be teasing a new game mode as well.

Apparently, one of the files contains audio of the character of Agent Kelso talking about a skyscraper that needs securing. She mentions that it needs to be secured ‘floor by floor’ and that there are ‘safe floors’ and checkpoints.

The theory is that it’s a new endless mode, similar to the first game’s Underground and Survival modes that were all about traversing and surviving within certain environments.

The Division 2 is currently lacking any sort of player-versus-environment mode, so the possibility of it has got fans excited, judging by the responses to the Reddit post.

However, as always, it’s important to note that none of this is a definitive confirmation and we’ll have to wait until we hear an official announcement from Ubisoft itself.

The Division 2 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
