The likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are always at the forefront of their teams' triumphs, but here are 10 footballers who won big trophies, such as UEFA Champions League and FIFA World Cup titles, without contributing much.

Messi and Ronaldo have claimed many trophies in their respective careers, and many would claim that the majority of the silverware they have won came as a direct result of their brilliance.

While the Argentine has won 34 trophies since arriving on the scene, Ronaldo has picked up 29 trophies for club and country, making the pair two of football's most decorated players still playing today. Other players, however, have perhaps not had to work as hard or play a huge hand in winning key titles in their careers for various reasons, such as former Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina.

For the most part of his international career, the ex-Liverpool shot-stopper has played back-up to the legendary Iker Casillas, but claimed just as many trophies as his counterpart. Reina lifted the 2008 and 2012 UEFA European Championship, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup in between, playing just one game at all three of those tournaments combined.

Another goalkeeper, Kiko Casilla, lifted huge pieces of silverware in the form of three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles at Real Madrid as back-up to Keylor Navas, while his former colleague Nacho has won the competition four times.

The Spanish defender has made just 33 appearances in the competition's history, meaning the 30-year-old, who has been considered a squad player for most of his years, has lifted the trophy once every 8.25 games.

Former FC Barcelona defender Jeremy Mathieu won nine trophies during his time with the Catalan giants, including two LaLiga titles and the Champions League in the 2014/15 campaign. The Frenchman represented the Blaugrana on just 91 occasions, averaging a trophy every 10.1 matches.
