Alexander has been enjoying life under Gavin Hunt, just a few seasons after nearly calling it quits. This campaign alone, Alexander has featured 18 times for Hunt’s side in all competitions, proving to be an integral member of the Braamfontein outfit.
His stats are a far cry from the 2017/18 campaign with Matsatsantsa, where he struggled for game-time under Eric Tinkler, making just seven appearances in an injury ravaged season.
The 30-year-old has lifted the lid on why he is indebted to Wits, who took a chance on him when others had written him off.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here (at Wits). You know Wits took on a half broken player to be honest. You know I went to Wits with a low self-esteem, I came there being known as injury prone because the season before I was out for many, many months and they took a gamble on me and I’m grateful for the opportunity that they have given me. I mean since joining I have played 80% of the games. I think I’ve been doing okay and playing, which is the most important thing for a player, game time and being able to express yourself. I’m still enjoying it and I am grateful for the opportunity,” Alexander said speaking to the club’s website.
