This Morning: Ruth Langsford confronted supermarket shopper who broke lockdown guidance
Presenter says she stopped because she ‘didn’t want to cause a scene’
by Annie LordRuth Langsford confronted a fellow shopper in a supermarket after they failed to social distance properly.
Appearing on This Morning with her husband Eamonn Holmes, Langsford described how a man loomed over her, ignoring the government’s commands to stay two metres apart from others.
The 60-year-old presenter began: “I was in the supermarket the other day and I had my gloves on, my mask on, and I was picking up potatoes.
”Suddenly, this big hairy arm came across, literally a man leaning over me.
“I just went, ‘Excuse me!’ And he looked at me as if he didn’t know what I was talking about. And then I stopped because I didn’t want to cause a scene.
”But how do you say, ‘Could you please move away and observe this distancing?’ It’s quite hard.“
Holmes quipped: “And I would say if you are the owner of that hairy arm, identify yourself to us!”
Earlier today (25 May) on Good Morning Britain, Lorraine Kelly took aim at Dominic Cummings’ “breathtaking arrogance”.
Kelly was referring to Cummings’ decision to drive over 250 miles from London to his parent’s house in Durham, despite the government’s own ruling that people need to stay home during the pandemic.
“What I think is really shocking about it – no apology!” began Kelly. “The arrogance is breathtaking.”
