Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has announced three more coronavirus related deaths and 1,751 new cases on Monday.

This brings the country’s total deaths to 26 and total infections to 45,439, including 35,076 active cases who are still receiving medication at hospitals. The ministry also announced the full recovery of 1,193 COVID-19 patients, raising the total number of recovered cases to 10,363.

Twenty-two newly diagnosed patients are in a critical condition and are receiving intensive medical care due to health complications caused by the virus. The number of patients receiving medical care at intensive care units has risen to 202.

The ministry said most of the new cases were expatriate workers who were in contact with previously infected patients. The new cases were detected through COVID-19 tests that were conducted by epidemiological and investigation teams and contributed to the early detection of the new infections.

There are also citizens and expatriate residents among the newly diagnosed cases of the coronavirus infection due to family gatherings and contacting previously confirmed cases within families.

The number of daily reported cases in Qatar have been on the rise in the last few days, with new cases exceeding 1, 700 , enforcing Qatari authorities to step ups efforts to test more people; 4, 341 more people were tested over the past 24 hours, taking the total number of tested people to 192,484 so far.
