Coronavirus Entente Cordiale Between the UK and France is Cancelled

by

The exemption from quarantine for travellers between the UK and France is now definitely in the column of killed ideas, as France has announced there's to be a 14-day quarantine requirement for all arrivals from the UK.

Our government revealed its plan to start quarantining arrivals from June 8th, which included those coming in from France despite previous suggestions of a reciprocal agreement not to check UK-France travellers. Hence France has retaliated, with a spokesperson for the country's Interior Minister saying: "We take note of the British Government's decision and we regret it. France is ready to put in place a reciprocal measure as soon as the system comes into force on the British side."

There are some exemptions, though, as medical workers and truckers won't have to hole-up for 14 days at a stated address and under menaces of checks and a £1,000 fine. [iNews]
