The supermarket chain told how the kind-hearted key worker quietly told the customer that she would pay for the shop, when her card was declined a few weeks ago.

The shopper was so grateful for the gesture that she offered to return later and reimburse the till worker for her kindness.

But selfless Julie refused to let the shopper pay her back and instead insisted she pass on an act of kindness to someone else.

Now Aldi has shared the news and celebrated the key worker as an "every day amazing" colleague.

An Aldi spokesperson said: “When the customer got in touch with us to express her gratitude, we were blown away and we knew we just had to take a moment to celebrate another of our every day amazing colleagues.

“Julie, you’re a wee gem.”

Scots flooded social media to applaud Julie’s selfless act.

One wrote: "Always a smile on her face, well done Julie."

Another added: "Fantastic gesture in this difficult times. Well done to you, Julie."

And a third simply said: "Julie, you're a star."

During the coronavirus crisis, key worker supermarket staff have been applauded for working through the pandemic.
