COVID-19 hygiene kits distribution programme

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Mokokchung, under Agriculture department initiated the distribution programme of COVID-19 hygiene kits, launched by SDO (C), Sadar, Mokokchung, Thungchanbemo Tungoe on May 25 at DAO office Mokokchung. 

A press release by deputy PD, ATMA Mokokchung, Rongsennungla Imchen stated that, Tungoe while addressing the importance of sharing COVID-19 advisories to the farmers by the department, further stressed on the importance to develop possible action plans in case of any possible attack of locusts and other pests on crop plants along with weather forecast advisories to be disseminated to the farmers. He said that the programme was held for farmers as the primary agents of food supply chain, wherein due attention have to be given to ensure their well being and safety. While appreciating the efforts made by the department in assisting the farmers especially during the ongoing economic crisis, he urged the department in particular and allied departments in general to remain dedicated and vigilant in addressing emergency situations. 

Around 5000 numbers each of face masks and soaps along with COVID-19 advisory pamphlets were handed over to all the nine (9) ATMA farm information and advisory centres to be distributed to the farmers. Dr. Lanunochetla, deputy DAO, T. Mayang Ao, agriculture officer, Renbomo Ngullie, ACTO, Samuel Sangtam, ACTO, KVK, Yisemyong along with ATMA team were present at the launch of the programme. 

Meanwhile, other agencies like Naga Navy veterans and Assam Rifles have also been extending support towards combating COVID-19 pandemic through various programmes. 

Naga navy veterans: Indian Navy veterans from Nagaland donated 2500 face masks to the office of commissioner of Police, Dimapur as solidarity to keep the policemen safe as they are one of the most exposed frontline workers. Navy veterans from Nagaland have served the country in different fields of the Indian Navy for 15 years or more.

Kiphire Battalion: Kiphire Battalion of Assam Rifles provided 45 foldable beds for setting up of the quarantine facility at Loyola School, Kiphire town on May 25. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), as part of the District Task Force and COVID core committee, the battalion is participating in all endeavour of the civil administration to deal with the pandemic in Kiphire. 

Phek Battalion: Assam Rifles units deployed in Phek district expressed solidarity with widows by distributing medical kits and ration in village Ziphu on May 24. Meal was also organised for them at the company operating base. Information about the need to continue taking necessary precautions to keep from contacting the virus was imparted.

Jalukie Battalion: Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles distributed face masks in Songhlou village, Athibung division.
