‘Deposit NEHUTA’s fund to M’laya CMRF’
The North Eastern Hill University Teachers Association (NEHUTA) on Monday again hit out at Vice Chancellor Prof. S.K.Srivastava for his “nonchalant” and “unmoved” at their humanitarian appeal to deposit two years of earmarked funds of the association to PM CARES.
On the other hand, the association has urged the Vice Chancellor to deposit earmarked funds of NEHUTA to the Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
“If the Vice Chancellor has any problem with PM CARES, he can kindly deposit NEHUTA’s earmarked funds to Meghalaya Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. If he has any problem with Prime Minister Modi or the central government, as his second term is under wraps, it would no less be a service to humanitarian cause,” the NEHUTA stated.
In a press communiqué, NEHUTA president, Prof. Xavier P. Mao and general secretary, Dr. Marbhador M. Khymdeit said the inaction speaks volume about his “arrogance” and “incompetence” of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor in disregarding NEHUTA’s public call to support the cause of the nation in this grave hour of humanitarian crisis.
“Joining the call for supporting national relief work under COVID and other humanitarian disasters, one day salary of the members of NEHU fraternity have already been deposited to PM CARES,” they said, expressing surprised on Prof. Srivastava playing deaf to their appeal to contribute two years of NEHUTA grant to deposit in PM CARE.
“As the Vice Chancellor is arbitrarily sitting over the earmarked funds, which could best be utilized by giving to PM CARES,” the NEHUTA once again appealed to Prof. Srivastava, ‘better late than never’.
The VC has forgotten that before becoming VC, he was a teacher and as a teacher it is his duty to support fight against COVID by depositing Teachers’ Association’s earmarked funds to the cause of the nation, stated NEHUTA. Seemingly, he has forgotten his role as a teacher after becoming an administrator as he plays deaf to humanitarian cause, added the association.
