Appalled This Morning viewers have hit out at Eamonn Holmes after he revealed his shocking way of cooking bacon.

You might not think the fact that the Irish host admitted to microwaving bacon would cause much outrage, but a glance on Twitter and you'll see many people watching at home were absolutely appalled, with one even branding him "a filthy pig."

Wife and co-host Ruth Langsford said she disagreed with Eamonn's way of cooking the breakfast essential, despairing "what can I do with him?" when speaking to top TV chef James Martin, who in turn was left shaking his head.

Ruth said that Eamonn had made a mess of her microwave and then returning to the show later to some playful ribbing from Eamonn over barbecuing cabbage, James reacted: "You can't say anything...you microwave bacon!"

This Morning viewers shared James and Ruth's stance on the matter, with one tweeting: "Microwaved bacon? Eamonn Holmes is a filthy pig," and another posting: "Microwaving bacon is a sin Eamonn! No, no, no!"

A third reacted: "Eamonn you’re a wrongun' for microwaving bacon," but Eamonn did get support from some people watching at home.

One tweeted: "My Nan used to microwave bacon for me as a kid - I thought that was the proper way of cooking it till I was about 16 (tasted good though!)," and another commented: "I always microwave bacon since I discovered it a couple of years ago. Fantastic flavour when micro'd."
