Mindfulness with Metro.co.uk: Compassion with yourself and with others.
by Elle RuddWhen things are going wrong it’s easy to want to blame someone or something.
But during a pandemic who do we blame? The world is easier when conflict and turmoil is split into black and white, but Coronavirus is anything but.
And that is so frustrating.
It’s almost second nature to take that frustration out on people in parks or that person on your street who isn’t clapping. If you can’t blame them, then it’s easy to turn these feelings inwards and take it out on yourself.
We’ll be live on Facebook at 10am on Tuesday morning where you can follow our guided mindfulness session.
After all, we’re all living though a major historical event. We are experiencing trauma on every level.
Not only is it time to treat our friends, family, neighbours and strangers with compassion and patience, but also ourselves.
Join us on Tuesday at 10am for this week’s mindfulness session with Headspace looking at how to allow yourself to be more compassionate in your daily life.
Sessions will be available on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and IGTV, as well as right here on site.
This week we will be joined by Evelyn Lewis Prieto, the voice of Headspace.
Together we will carve space out of our hectic weeks to have guided meditation sessions and learn how to use mindfulness in our day-to-day tasks.
What will we be covering?
- Managing stress and anxiety in lockdown
- How to take care of your mental health while self-isolating
- Top tips on meditation and mindfulness in every day tasks, such as washing your hands.
- Identifying and managing feelings of loneliness
- Connecting mind and body to keep mentally and physically active
- Being more mindful and how to manage relationships
- How to talk about stress and anxiety with children
- How to incorporate meditation into daily routines with children
- Mindful activities to do with children
- Dealing with insomnia and poor sleep patterns in lock down
On top of this, Headspace has also unlocked a free, specially-curated Weathering The Storm collection of meditation and mindfulness content in the Headspace app for people around the world during this time of crisis.
Together we hope we can offer you a small calming oasis, amid the tempest of the outside world.
