Inter turn down Man United's swap deal involving Pogba

Inter Milan have reportedly rejected Manchester United's offer of a swap deal involving Paul Pogba and Milan Skriniar.

Pogba has been heavily linked with a return to Italy in recent months after a fourth season back at United that has been wrecked by two foot injuries.

The Frenchman has made just eight appearances - the last on Boxing Day - and his agent, Mino Raiola, has been outspoken with claims that his client wants a move away.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have reportedly been tracking Inter's £52million-rated defender Skriniar, who has been told that he will be sold for a hefty fee when the transfer window re-opens.

According to Italian journalist Paulo Paganini - via his Twitter account - United had devised a swap deal involving Skriniar and Pogba that - it was hoped - was hoped would suit both parties.

However, Inter have rejected the proposal and it is instead claimed that Juventus trio Aaron Ramsey, Douglas Costa and Adrien Rabiot are all players who would be considered in an alternative swap arrangement.

All three players have been linked with a move away; Costa is said to be on United's list of alternatives in the event that a move for Jadon Sancho falls through, while Ramsey is reportedly keen for a move after a tough first season in Turin.

Rabiot, meanwhile, has been linked with Everton while United are said to have opened talks with his agent and mother.

Defence could become a priority for Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the futures of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo unclear.

Rojo is wanted by Estudiantes after going on loan to the Argentine club in January and a report has claimed that United are hoping to receive more money than expected from his sale.
