Armed cops and a force helicopter raced to Nithsdale Road at around 4.50pm after the alarm was raised.

Paul's partner Vicky Woods, 46, who is believed to have been in the house at the time of the alleged incident, was unhurt.

And cops confirmed that a 42-year-old has now been nicked after a manhunt was launched last night.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 4.50am on Sunday, a 42-year-old man was found with serious injuries and died at the scene a short time later.

"A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

"Inquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what happened."

Locals said Paul's partner Vicky lost her brother Gary to cancer last month.

One said: “She’s just gone through the trauma of a funeral for her brother and now this.”
