Centre Lauds Jaipur, Indore, Bengaluru And Chennai As Role Models In Managing COVID-19 Pandemic In Urban Clusters
by Swarajya StaffThe central government on Sunday (24 May) highlighted four cities as possible role models for the rest of the urban centres in the nation to handle and contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, reports Hindustan Times.
While lauding Jaipur and Indore metropolitan areas for innovative ways of tackling a high caseload, the Government also lauded Chennai and Bengaluru as examples of large cities which have succeeded in keeping the mortality rates low so far.
It should be noted that while Bengaluru and Chennai both have a sizeable number of confirmed cases of the viral disease, they have managed to contain the mortality rate to just about a per cent, which is much lower than the national average of about three per cent.
The development comes as the Centre has in the last few days organised meetings between different municipal bodies to share their experiences in two broad aspects of managing the pandemic - effective practices in handling a very high number of positive cases and keeping the mortality rates low.
