The Reds were knocked out of Europe following a second-leg loss to Los Rojiblancos in the round of 16 in March, a fixture Klopp was not entirely focused on for understandable reasons.
Ahead of that tie in Liverpool, Madrid had become one of the worst-hit cities in Europe in terms of the COVID-19 outbreak, so it thus concerned many when about 3 000 supporters from the Spanish capital made their way to Anfield.
Many matches across Europe around the same time were being played behind closed doors, while other games had been called off altogether, but the clash between Liverpool and Atletico was allowed to be played without precautionary measures in place.
