Gary Neville makes bleak financial prediction for EFL clubs after Huddersfield Town chairman claims
League Two have already voted to curtail their season due to economical pressure
by Elliott JacksonFormer Manchester United captain Gary Neville believes that clubs in the English Football League will be forced into administration as a result of the Premier League's lack of funding during the COVID-19 financial crisis.
The EFL faces a black financial hole of £200million by September, according to chairman Rick Parry.
The economical strain at the bottom of the football pyramid has led to League Two clubs curtailing their season, whilst there is a clear divide in the League One over whether to follow suit.
With clubs set to lose millions of pounds in matchday revenue due to COVID-19, Huddersfield Town owner Phil Hodgkinson warned over the weekend that "there will be no football pyramid" if a financial agreement isn't reached.
Neville has voiced his disapproval of how the Premier League has handled the situation and believes their short-sighted approach could force EFL clubs into administration.
"From day one, I've said it will be July, August, September, October where the real pressure comes," Neville said on The Football Show.
"Clubs have a loss at the moment from the games that have been cancelled this season. I think League One clubs will vote to end the season and they will end up with the play-offs, similar to League Two.
"Richard Masters did an interview that was slipped in over the weekend with the BBC. He said he wouldn't be putting together a short-term funding package in the coming months because he was focusing on the Premier League clubs.
"That's what I'm seeing all the way over football, everyone is looking at their own feet and not seeing economic carnage that is coming over the next three to four months.
"I wanted more from the Premier League from day one on this, I'm continually disappointed by them and their stance. What the Huddersfield owner says is quite alarming, I don't think it will be 50, 60 clubs, personally.

"I don't see any of that but he may be closer than I am. I think there will be clubs considering going into administration just to basically save themselves. Then there's the situation with how the league deal with that. I think there is a looming nightmare economically for the EFL clubs."
He added: "The EFL will be there to fend for itself and it doesn't look like it will get any funding. There was a suggestion it could be a government bail-out but I was nervous about that, the government has enough industries to look after.
"I think we do need to see some support for football clubs or we will see them go into administration and that would be a real shame. The Premier League don't see it as their responsibility or their urgent responsibility at this moment of the time."
