Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch coming next month, according to Swedish website
by Michael BeckwithA Metroid Prime Trilogy Switch port has been rumoured for a while, and it could finally be announced/released as early as June.
Metroid Prime 4 still feels like it’s a long way away from releasing, especially since Nintendo confirmed earlier in the year that it was restarting development with a different studio.
In the meantime, however, fans of Nintendo’s sci-fi action series may have something else to look forward to very soon, namely a Switch port of the Metroid Prime Trilogy.
A compilation of the three Metroid Prime titles that was originally released on the Wii and then re-released on the Wii U, it was rumoured back in January that the Switch port was ready and waiting to be released.
Nintendo never announced it in the end but, over the weekend, Nintendo Insider spotted a listing for the game on Swedish retail website Inet, that also said that it will release next month on 19 June. The listing has since been deleted but images of it were saved beforehand.
This almost sounds too good to be true, but it wouldn’t be completely out-of-character for Nintendo to do something like this.
Earlier this month, it unexpectedly dropped an announcement trailer for Paper Mario: The Origami King out of nowhere, which is due for release in June as well.
However, until we hear some sort of official confirmation from Nintendo, we can’t take the listing at face value.
Metroid Prime Trilogy is available on Wii and Wii U.
