Visiting hours for some Wolverhampton cemeteries have been extended by the city council.

All cemeteries in Wolverhampton except for Bushbury and Danescourt are now open from 1pm to 7pm Monday to Sunday.

Bushbury and Danescourt cemeteries will also be open between 1pm and 7pm on weekends but will only be open from 4pm to 7pm Monday to Friday.

Weekend opening hours apply throughout bank holidays.

Cemeteries will be closed when funerals are taking place and only 10 mourners are allowed to attend each funeral.

Councillor Steve Evans, cabinet member for environment, said: "We’ve assessed the safety aspects and in line with government guidance we’re now able to make adjustments and extend the visiting times at cemeteries for the public."

Meanwhile Wolverhampton Council parks, including West Park, Bantock Park and East Park, are open Monday to Sunday from 8am to 9pm.
