Maverick Vinales is currently in Andorra, where he is going through this period of forced inactivity; he has started his training plan with a supermotard but is looking forward to getting back on his Yamaha MotoGP.
"It doesn't matter if we have to race twice on the same track - he said to AS - The important thing is that this championship starts, also for the manufacturers, so that we can develop the bikes."
In the winter tests the M1 had looked to be in fine shape, but a season with fewer races will have to be interpreted in the right way.
“It will be a sprint championship - commented Maverick - Each race is unique, and you will have to make the most of it, giving everything. I will always have to try to fight for the win. "
Vinales is one of the contenders for the title but the favourite is always the same…
"Certainly, Marc Marquez is the rival to beat, he has shown it for several years, you have to keep your eyes on him" he admitted.
He is not the only one, however, because there is also Quartararo, who will become his teammate from next year.
"It is difficult to say which of the two I have more in my sights - said Maverick - They are both strong. Fabio rides the same bike as me, so I always keep an eye on him, but the main rival is Marc. He always comes first or second and you have to fight against him. "
Even the Suzukis seem ready to fight for important results…
“I followed them in Qatar, and they were going very well. I was surprised - he said - I also went trackside and the Suzukis seemed to me to be in good shape. They will certainly be up there. It will be complicated between Mir and Rins because they are both at a high level, they have a lot of talent, they will fight but we will be there as well”.
Finally, Vinales spoke about the future of Rossi.
“I really don't know what he will do – he said - We don’t talk much about it within the team, they are all quiet about it. I hope he continues; I like to race against him. He is a legend, one of the greatest in the world, and racing against him always gives you a lot of motivation. One thing that Valentino never loses is motivation. "
