What next for new riverside neighbourhood between Nottingham's football stadiums
Work started on the development last year
by Jamie BarlowThis image shows how the next phase of a multi-million-pound riverside neighbourhood is expected to look between Nottingham's two football grounds.
Work is well underway on the £30m Trent Bridge Quays project to build almost 100 riverside homes on the banks of the River Trent, behind Notts County's Meadow Lane stadium.
A restaurant or café had formed part of the thinking for the area - however, developers say they no longer want to go ahead with this idea and more apartments are in the pipeline. They now hope to convert an existing five-floor building on Tinkers Lock, where it meets the River Trent.
Steve Dodd, managing director of the Elevate Property Group, said: “Our new proposals for Tinkers Lock will create three beautiful riverfront duplex apartments, and they also help resolve a longstanding issue that has been in negotiation for some time.
"We have been involved in lengthy discussions with the Canal & River Trust and Nottingham City Council on the preferred location for a mobile crane that, from time to time, may be required on the canal's edge for maintenance.
"And we believe we have finally achieved consensus with this proposal.”
Once complete, Trent Bridge Quays will include a range of apartments and three-storey townhouses, all with terraces either to the front or back.
More than half of the first phase of homes have been sold and the first properties are due to be ready later this year.
The next phase, planned on the nearby Muller Yard, Meadow Lane, will provide a further 40 apartments and 18 townhouses.
Mr Dodd said: "We’ve come through a tough few weeks but life has to go on and we are seeing that the great location and inherent quality of Trent Bridge Quays and Meadow Lane is proving very attractive to buyers.
“That’s given us the confidence to progress our proposals for Tinkers Lock.”
He added: “Elevate has joined the waterside regeneration in Nottingham and our three phases on the River Trent will provide some of the best new homes available in Nottingham over the next 18 months.”

Estate agent FHP has been marketing the new properties.
Steve Parker, director of FHP, said: “Trent Bridge Quays, the neighbouring Meadow Lane and the proposed Tinkers Lock apartments are bringing much-needed quality housing to Nottingham.
"And their proximity to West Bridgford and Trent Bridge, combined with easy access to the city centre, makes a very compelling offer.”
