Oca places 4 streets in Bgy. 28 on total lockdown

THE local government of Caloocan city yesterday denied report circulating on social media that another barangay in the city will be placed on total lockdown starting today, Tuesday.

City Public Information Office (PIO) communication officer Kate Javier-Pajaron said only four streets in Barangay 28 will be placed on a total lockdown or extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) that started at 11:59 in the evening yesterday, Monday until May 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan issued an order for a total lockdown of four streets in the said barangay following an increase of coronavirus (COVID) 19 cases in the area.

Earlier, the city chief executive decided to place Barangay 12 in Dagat-Dagatan in a week-long total lockdown last May 17 before extending it until May 30 because of continued surge of COVID-19 cases which has reached to 49.

While under EECQ, only frontliners, essential workers, and residents with emergencies are allowed to go out of their homes while city health workers from the City Health Department continue to conduct mass community swab testing.

As of yesterday, a total of 327 underwent swab testing in Barangay 12 but are still waiting for the result while the city government continued to distribute relief goods for residents including giving of vitamins, milk and other hygiene kit plus P1,000 cash assistance.

A data from the PIO showed that from April 21 to May 24, the city recorded in Barangay 12 49 suspected COVID-19 cases, 19 tested positive and one death.
