Yogi Government To Form Migration Commission To Provide Migrant Workers Employment In The State

The Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the formation of a “Migration Commission” which will be tasked with providing employment to migrant workers who have recently returned back to the state in light of the Covid-19 lockdown, ANI has reported.

An estimated 23 lakh migrant workers have returned back to Uttar Pradesh and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the state establishment to ensure they are provided with suitable employment.

The workers who are being provided cash assistance of Rs 1,000 will be mapped for their skills to ensure employment in various sectors.

It was earlier reported that the state has decided to fast track expressway projects so that employment can be generated for the returning migrant workers. In order to facilitate the expressway projects the UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) will raise bank loans to the tune of Rs 9,275 crore.

Some of the expressway projects include the Bundelkhand Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway and the Purvanchal Expressway.
