True patriots aren’t defying law, risking lives to cut hair
This is a thank-you to the real patriots out there.
The ones that, through their sacrifice and intelligence, their sense of community and their vision, are doing the best they can to keep others safe. The patriots that, realizing what our health care professionals are experiencing, are trying to stay healthy and not overload the medical system. The patriots that realize that only by working together and, yes, making some sacrifices, can we prevent more deaths of our fellow citizens. These are the actions of real patriots and they stand in sharp contrast to those of the self-proclaimed ones.
I see how America is changing when I read of men like Bob Martin, the Snohomish barber defying Gov. Jay Inslee’s orders and cutting hair while wrapping his customers in the flag. In disrespect of the law and in his head-long pursuit of profit, Mr. Martin has no issue with putting the lives of others at risk, especially our older Americans. As more of our elderly civilians and older veterans succumb to Covid-19, one can’t help wonder how people like Martin can justify their behavior.
There are a few things that they have obviously missed: First, in the USA we don’t just pick and choose what laws we want to follow. Second, our elderly are a treasure and their lives should never be risked so that someone can make a buck. Thirdly, it isn’t all about you, it is about “us” and how “we” can get through this crisis. Finally, don’t leave your hair clippings on our American Flag. Have some respect for our country: Be a patriot.
