The family of one of the construction workers kidnapped in Niger State has appealed to the state government to open negotiations with the abductors in order to secure the release of the victims.

The kidnappers, it was learnt, have refused to deal with the construction company or the abductees’families, preferring only government officials.

One of the civil engineers working with the Niger State Ministry of Works, Abubakar Ibrahim Jibril, is among those kidnapped two weeks ago.

Three other construction workers with Tractia Nigeria Ltd were also kidnapped.

Jubril’s family is accusing the government of foot-dragging in the matter.

The kidnappers had initially demanded N1billion ransom but later cut it to N700 million when the company contacted them.

The family of Jubril is worried about his health.

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said the government was doing its best to secure the release all the abducted persons, adding that the kidnappers will be brought to book.
