Sunderland have been linked with two new goalkeepers as uncertainty persists around Jon McLaughlin's future at the club.

McLaughlin is out of contract at the end of the season and despite being one of Sunderland's key performers across the last two seasons, he is yet to be offered fresh terms.

Blackburn Rovers are keen to sign the Scotland international on a free transfer and should the 32-year-old depart, the Black Cats will need to bolster their goalkeeping options.

Lee Burge would be the only senior goalkeeper left at the club and it seems Sunderland have already started with their contingency planning.

Sunday saw the Black Cats linked with a move for Aston Villa goalkeeper Matija Sarkic, after the 22-year-old Montenegro international confirmed he will be leaving the Premier League side on a free transfer this summer.

And overnight, Sunderland have been credited an interest in a further two goalkeepers.

The Sunday Post report that the Black Cats are keen on a move for St Mirren's Czech goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky but are set to face competition from Rangers, Celtic and Houston Dynamo for the 29-year-old's signature.

Meanwhile, ESPN claim Sunderland are one of a number of clubs chasing a loan deal for highly rated Arsenal goalkeeper James Hillson.

The 19-year-old joined the Gunners from Reading last summer and has reportedly penned a new one-year deal at the Emirates Stadium after impressing at under-23 level.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is keen for Hillson to pick up some first team experience and the Black Cats are said to be joined by Leeds, Portsmouth, Luton and Barnsley in the race to secure his loan signature next season.
