Streaming app Netflix has some exciting plans to offer to its customers. The company will now provide an upgrade to its standard and premium plans in India. The offer is, however, only valid for 30 days.
As per a Gadgets 360 report, Netflix is providing a free upgrade to users who are active on Basic and Standard plans. For instance, if you are using a Basic plan you will be upgraded to Standard plan and if you are using a Standard plan, you will be upgraded to Premium plan at no additional charges. The offer is only valid for a month and once the trial pack gets over, you will be back to the plan you were using prior to the upgrade.
When you move from Basic to Standard, you get access to high-definition video resolution and it also allows users to browse the app on two screens. Similarly, when you move from Standard to Premium, you will have access to ultra-high-definition (UHD) video resolution, up to 4K video quality. The Premium plan also allows four profiles to log in at a time. The Basic plan is priced at Rs 499 per month, the Standard costs Rs 649, and the Premium plan costs Rs 799 per month.
At the end of the free-trial pack, Netflix will ask its users whether they want to upgrade their plans to Standard or Premium. If you agree to upgrade, you will have to pay either Rs 649 or Rs 799, depending upon your plans. However, if you decline the offer, you will be brought back to the pack that you were earlier active on. This is a nice marketing strategy adapted by Netflix to sell its premium plans to users after letting them experience the enhanced features for a month.
"We're looking at different marketing promotions in India to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience," a Netflix spokesperson told Gadgets360.
Earlier this week, Netflix announced that it will cancel the subscriptions of inactive users. They will of course let the user know through mails and SMSes before taking the final step. They however clarified that they will only cancel the subscriptions for users who are inactive for over a year. The company will send notifications to users who are not active many time and if after a point, they fail to confirm their presence, Netflix will go ahead and cancel the subscriptions.
