Gangs Of London creator working on action-thriller Christmas film
by Cydney YeatesGangs Of London creator Gareth Evans is working on producing an action-thriller set at Christmas – and we couldn’t be more excited.
While the showrunner has admitted that his upcoming project may draw parallels to Die Hard, he’s revealed that the movie has been more influenced by Shane Black’s films such as Iron Man 3 and The Nice Guys.
‘I’ve been developing a film while we’ve been in post-production,’ Evans revealed.
‘All of my energy and all of my thinking has been on the film at the moment.
‘Hopefully when all of this craziness lifts and the industry kick-starts back into life, I can jump into that film then and then get that one off the ground.’
He continued to Den of Geek: ‘I started writing it probably about five months ago now. Really since being in lockdown, obviously I’ve been able to give a lot more focus to the writing of it.
‘It’s an action thriller. It’s a little more mainstream than what I’ve done in the past. It’s set two days before Christmas, so there’s a black dark humour streak to it, as well. It should be quite fun.’
Gangs of London first arrived in April and it’s already broken viewing records for Sky.
Just last week, the show overtook Game of Thrones as the most violent series on British television.
The Joe Cole thriller immediately had viewers wincing with its no holds barred graphic violence from the opening moment of a man being torched and plummeting to his death to the 112 unfortunate victims who get slaughtered from then on.
Gangs Of London is airing on Sky Atlantic and is available to stream on NOW TV.
