Aston Villa star Jack Grealish ‘is worth the £80m tag’
Jack Grealish would be ‘worth every penny’ if Manchester United had to pay £80million for the Villa captain, according to former team-mate Alan Hutton.
Grealish is reportedly at the top of United's summer transfer wish-list after a stunning season that has seen him deliver nine goals and eight assists in a struggling Villa side – not least a world-class strike against United in the draw at Old Trafford earlier this season.
And Hutton said the Villa skipper is a ‘game-changer’.
“Obviously it’s a massive price tag, but in my opinion, he’s worth every penny, he’s that good,” the Scot said in an interview with Football Insider.
“He could be a team’s game-changer, and that’s no disrespect to anyone at Aston Villa, you know I love them to bits, but for him to be playing with a top-four team, I think he’d be outstanding.
“Everybody would be buzzing off him, they would see his quality, and I think he would only grow in stature, so I totally understand the price tag. Whether what’s happened is going to affect it, I’m not too sure because it’s going to happen to every club.”
Meanwhile, £22m record buy Wesley says he is improving after suffering a season-ending injury at Burnley on New Year’s Day.
The Brazilian striker admitted he cannot yet do passing drills, but said he feels ‘great’.
“I do my physio everyday, two times a day, so now I feel confident and I feel great,” he said in an interview with VillaTV.
“I try to do some passing, but sometimes a get a bit of pain, but now the last two or three weeks I feel great.”
He is in contact with medical staff at Villa to monitor his progress in his homeland.
“Two times a week we have to speak with the doctor to say to him how its going,” added the big striker. “I say that it’s going good, but I have to concentrate now to come back early and good.
“I have to continue, this is not finished for me, I must continue to do my physio to come back and then continue doing what I have to do.”
