Union minister and BJP MP from Karnataka, Sadananda Gowda, on Monday took a flight from Delhi and landed in Bengaluru as domestic passenger flights resumed for the first time in two months.

Upon arrival at the Bengaluru airport, Sadananda Gowda took his official car and went off with no institutional quarantine.

When asked about the Karnataka government rules of quarantining passengers arriving from other states, Gowda told India Today TV he is the “pharma minister and is exempted from the quarantine rules”.

While flight services have resumed across the country with reduced number of flights being operated between key destinations, Karnataka came up with its own set of rules to quarantine passengers arriving in the state.

Praveen Sood, Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) had said, “Incoming domestic flight passengers from Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Madhya Pradesh will undergo 7-day institutional quarantine, followed by home quarantine.”

The home quarantine is for a period of 14 days after the institutional quarantine.

However, Sadananda Gowda managed to skip these quarantine norms after arriving in Bengaluru from Delhi.
