Southwest monsoon expected to reach Mumbai between June 15-20
by Mumbai MirrorThe monsoon season is upon Maharashtra and the state is bracing for its impact amid the coronavirus pandemic. The head of Regional Specialised Meteorological Centre, Rajendra Kumar Jenamani informed that the city will likely witness monsoon between June 15 and 20. "Southwest monsoon is expected to arrive over Kerala coast between June 1 & June 5 and is likely to reach Mumbai between June 15 and June 20," Jenamani told ANI.
He further added that rain accompanied by thunderstorm will begin from May 29 due to easterly winds in the northern parts of India. He also predicted that the temperature is expected to go down to 40 degrees. "India has seen the highest temperature of this year - 47.6 in the last two days. The heatwave will start subsiding from May 28 as easterly winds will start blowing in northern parts of the country," Jenamani told.
Meanwhile, as per IMD Mumbai, the sky is likely to remain clear in Mumbai for the next 48 hours.
On the other hand, Bengaluru witnessed heavy rainfall on Sunday and the weather department has further predicted rainy days till May 30. It can also be recalled that Cyclone Amphan has devastated West Bengal, Odisha and Bangladesh recently. In West Bengal, the super cyclone has claimed 86 lives so far.
