Co-op, Aldi, Tesco and M&S opening times for bank holiday Monday

by

Needless to say, today’s bank holiday will be a little different from other years, as travel, beer gardens, festivals and socialising are strictly out of bounds.

And in the absence of being able to eat and drink outside of the house, supermarkets have become all the more important.

So whether you’re just running low on milk or hoping to cook up a banquet at home – either in the kitchen or on the barbecue – you’ll be glad to know most supermarkets are still open.

So, what are the opening times for Co-op, M&S, Aldi and Tesco today?

Co-op opening times

Co-op stores will be open today from 8am to 8pm today with the first hour of trading dedicated to NHS workers and vulnerable people.

The Co-op website states: ‘We now have a dedicated shopping hour for our vulnerable customers, those who care for them and our brilliant NHS workers.

‘The hour is 8am to 9am Monday to Saturday and from 10am to 11am on Sundays.’

Some opening hours may vary, so check your local store’s opening hours on the Co-op store locator.

M&S opening times

The M&S Food Hall opening hours vary from store to store, so check out the M&S store locator to see what hours your local branch is operating.

Across all stores, the first hour of trading on Mondays and Thursdays is reserved for older and vulnerable customers and today is no different.

On Tuesdays and Fridays, NHS, health and social care workers can shop during the first hour of trading.

Aldi opening times

Aldi is also open from 8am to 8pm today.

The supermarket giant decided to extend its hours last month owing to increased demand, and are now usually open until 10pm from Monday to Saturday.

Their website states that shops are quietest between 7pm to 10pm, writing: ‘Our busiest time is first thing in the morning, so by extending our hours you have more time to shop safely. ‘

Emergency workers – including social care workers and first responders – can enter the store 30 minutes prior to opening every day.

As always, before you head out, it’s advised to exercise caution and check out the opening hours of your local store on the Aldi store finder.

Tesco opening times

Most large Tesco stores are open today from 8am to 8pm, or 6pm – depending on where you are based.

Many Express stores, meanwhile, remain open until 11pm or 12am.

From 9am to 10am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, most stores (except Express) will prioritise elderly and vulnerable shoppers, while NHS workers will be prioritised on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
