The most common cooking question people are asking in lockdown
Classic British meals are having a moment as the nation tries to recreate them at home
by Megan NisbetAs the UK enters its tenth week of lockdown, many of us have got to know our kitchens better.
With restaurants and pubs closed and fast-food chains only just beginning to reopen, home cooking has become hugely popular.
But what dish has the nation been cooking most?
A new study by Tombola has uncovered the UK's five most searched for British meals as well as the cooking questions we're searching for online.
The research revealed fish and chips is the most searched for British meal online, with £1.2 billion spent on the family favourite every year.
However, Tombola found Brits can save a whopping 48 per cent by cooking fish and chips at home for just £7.53.
And it seems the nation is on board as the search term "how to make fish and chips" has seen a 61 per cent increase during lockdown.
Pie and mash is also popular with a 53 per cent increase in searches between March and April 2020.
Brits are also looking to replicate their favourite curry, with "how to make a chicken tikka masala" receiving a 52 per cent increase in searches.
