by Carl EveTwo people arrested on suspicion of manslaughter remained in custody on Sunday night as inquiries continued into the death of a 49-year-old man.
Officers were called to a terraced property in Beaumont Road on Friday shortly after 4pm following reports of a man who was "unconscious with injuries".
However, it is understood he died at the scene.
Witnesses told Plymouth Live they saw a large number of officers, both uniformed and plain clothes, at the scene on Friday night and during Saturday, with Scene of Crime officers in white protective full-body suits entering the property.
Another witness claimed to have seen a coroner's ambulance outside the terraced house on Friday evening.
PlymouthLive learned on Saturday night that two residents from the same property had been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.
They were taken to Charles Cross police station custody suite for interview by detectives from Devon and Cornwall Police's Major Crime Investigation Team.
The deceased man has not yet been named by police and no further information regarding the two people arrested has been released. However, yesterday evening (Sunday) police confirmed the pair were still at Charles Cross custody suite.
Under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act a police officer of the rank of superintendent can authorise the detention of a prisoner beyond 24 hours for a maximum of a further 12 hours - total 36 hours detention - without charge.
A further extension after the initial 36 hours in custody can only be approved by a magistrate.
