5.26 lakh persons arrested in TN for violations

Chennai: The State police have arrested 5,26,507 persons for not following rules of Section 144 imposed across Tamilnadu.

Until this morning, the police in various districts have recorded as many 4,94,770 violations.

According to a press release from the DGP’s office, FIRs have been registered against those who violate the rules of lockdown.

The police seized as many as 4,20,688 vehicles from those who stepped out of their houses for non-essential purposes. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.

A total amount of Rs 7,63,04,184 has collected from violators as fines.
