The Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP), backed by the World Bank and the Ondo State Government have begun work at the coastline to stop sea incursion.

Residents of Ayetoro, the community experiencing sea incursion for years, were full of joy when they saw preliminary work carried out by NEWMAP.

Speaking at a ceremony to introduce the firm handling the study design of the project to the community for work to start, NEWMAP state Coordinator Marcus Adewodun said the government had approved for the first phase of the project, the studies and design of the Ayetoro sea area to begin without delay.
