Industrial estates in TN start functioning with new rules
by NT BureauChennai: Following permission from the Tamilnadu government, factories in industrial esates located in non-containment zones in the State, including those at Ambattur and Guindy, resumed their operations from today.
But there were only less number of workers due to restrictions imposed by the government. The Industrial Estates were allowed to function only with 25 per cent workforce, while adhering to the guidelines issued by the government and maintaining social distancing, wearing of face masks and thermal screening of staff members.
While allowing the industrial estates, including the Ambattur and Guindy IEs to resume work, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Sunday said those exmployees residing in containment zones should not be allowed to report for work.
The government said the units in the industrial estates can restart operations with 25 per cent workforce subject to conditions like wearing masks, maintaining social distance and thermal screening of the staff.
It said workers from containment zones cannot come to work. The industrial estates in Ambattur and Guindy are some of the oldest in the state housing various units.
