A Hwange married woman suspected of infidelity was busted with romantic text messages from her lover when her husband went through her mobile phone. A fierce fight then ensued between the couple. The alleged cheat suffered some nasty injuries and subsequently filed a police report, leading to her husband’s arrest.
Reports reaching iHarare from state-media reveal that Mavuto Sithole,37, of Number S9 Makwika Village, Number 3, on Tuesday last week attacked his wife, whose identity has not been revealed, after discovering that she was having an extramarital affair.
Sithole was convicted on his plea of guilt to physical abuse when he appeared before Hwange magistrate Ms Sekesayi Chiwundura. The magistrate slapped Sithole with a $800 fine and a two-month jail term if he failed to make the payment.
Prosecuting the case, Mr John Mutyakaviri told the court that the accused burst out in anger when he saw a text message from his wife’s alleged boyfriend on her phone.
Mr Mutyakaviri said a misunderstanding broke out between the pair. Sithole then used his fists to assault his wife all over the body. He also took a cooking stick and struck his wife several times.
After the assault, the complainant reported Sithole to the police and was referred to St Patrick’s Hospital where she was treated and discharged
