From Thursday night, 11.59pm, travel will be possible throughout the state with the exception of the Kimberley and bio-security zones in the east Pilbara and part of the Goldfields where travel exemptions will still apply.

Travel to the Kimberley would be reviewed on June 5th.

In a press briefing on Monday, the Premier said the travel restrictions had been a "necessary measure" to keep residents safe but the state had been doing well seven days into Phase 2 of easing COVID-19 restrictions.

Mr McGowan said the decision was made on the advice of the chief health officer, who supported the easing of intrastate border restrictions further with the hard borders to the rest of Australia still in place.

The announcement comes on a day where WA records four new cases of coronavirus after a lengthy stretch of zero cases.

More to come.
