The Enugu State Government has insisted that violating or assisting anyone to evade the interstate movement restriction, was unlawful and has contributed to the rising number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state.
It clarified that the two new confirmed cases of the virus sneaked into the state in spite of the interstate movement restriction, adding that with the two confirmed positive cases, Enugu now has 18 comprising 10 active and eight discharged cases.
State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ikechukwu Obi, while giving an update on the status of COVID-19 in the state as announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), said the new cases were indigenes of the state, who traveled from Lagos despite the interstate movement restrictions.
Meanwhile, founder of The Synagogue, Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope B. Joshua, has urged mankind to “begin to choose faith over fear” during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, praying that people who have been affected by COVID-19, and other afflictions to be healed.
In a message on his official Facebook page titled, “Get Ready for Life After The COVID-19 Lockdown,” Joshua encouraged his followers to face whatever situation they find themselves during and after the pandemic with equanimity, noting that it could be a blessing in disguise. “If you don’t have a job or you run into loss or lose a loved one after the lockdown, don’t despair; don’t doubt your God. God is about to establish you,” he said.
He admonished people to adjust their lifestyles and live modestly and sincerely. “Something must happen every 100 years to affect the whole world,” he stated. “This is what has happened in our own lifetime. It has been like that for generations. Those who respond to the demands of the age will end up as overcomers, victors, winners.”
A Peace Ambassador and member of the church, Chief Jonas Maduabuchukwu Ojukwu, said Joshua had prayed and fasted for a lasting solution to the pandemic, saying,
“Some testimonies of those who received healing from COVID-19 after praying along with the cleric while he was at the mountain were read.” Joshua had, during an Emmanuel TV broadcast, demonstrated that drinking lemon and hot water has a lot of health benefits, including fighting symptoms of coronavirus.
