FIRE crews were last night tackling a major fire in east Belfast.

Large plumes of black smoke were seen billowing from the Bombardier Aerospace factory at Queen's Island.

At least 10 fire appliances were understood to be involved in the operation, arriving in the grounds of the factory at around 9pm.

Photographs posted on social media appeared to show that flames were coming from the roof of the building with smoke seen spreading across the city sky.
