Banner supporting family of murder victim Kieran Wylie as family prepare for funeral

A BANNER in support of the family of murder victim Kieran Wylie has been put up in front of his home in west Belfast.

It comes as the funeral for the 57-year-old is due to take place today.

The large white banner, which states 'Justice for the Wylie family' has been erected outside the property in the Lenadoon area, while the words 'rest in power Wylie' has also been written on the wall in front of the house.

Family and friends of Mr Wylie will today gather at his home for the funeral with prayers due to be said outside at 2.15pm.

The former pub doorman was shot dead at his home on May 17.

Two men, including at least one experienced gunman, forced their way into the house and shot the father-of-three a number of times at close range.

Two of his daughters, aged 16 and 28, witnessed the attack and are said to be deeply traumatised.

Police have said they are investigating a potential dissident republican link to the murder.

Mr Wylie was previously a member of the Provisional IRA. In more recent years he had been linked to Óglaigh na hÉireann (ONH), but is believed to have parted ways with the organisation several months ago.

Police said Mr Wylie had been known to them over a number of years "in relation to a threat" from "a grouping of violent dissident republicans".
