Sinbon steps into medical application
by Mark Tsai, Taipei; Adam Hwang, DIGITIMESConnector and cable assembly maker Sinbon Electronics has extended production to cable models for use in medical equipment, according to company senior sales manager Teresa Lin.
Medical-use cables are usually customized models in large varieties and small volumes, Lin said.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, demand for ventilators in the US, Europe and China has been five times the original levels and Sinbon has received many inquiries from international vendors asking for help in assembling ventilators, Lin said.
Sinbon has not undertaken assembly of ventilators due to technological barriers, but many of its clients in the automaking sector have stepped into such production via transferring know-how from medical device vendors with ISO 13485 - the quality management system standards for medical devices, Lin indicated.
In addition to supply of cable, Sinbon has cooperated with medical device vendors to develop user interfaces to make such devices easy to use, Lin noted.
