by Rohit PariharPolice on Saturday arrested a man along with his three friends on charges of gangrape and murder of his 10-year-old mentally challenged sister in Manoharpur in Jaipur.
The main accused allegedly took his minor sister to a secluded place with help of his friends on May 17 to kill her as he considered her a liability. The four, however, raped the 10-year-old and strangulated her to death.
All four are in the 19 to 21 age group, police said.
A day after the 10-year-old went missing, her father lodged a missing complaint with the police following which the police launched a search for the minor.
Three days later, the minor’s father went to the police with clothes and slippers of the minor girl, which they claimed to have found in the nearby forest. It was after this that the police located the 10-year-old’s body in the forest area.
Police scanned mobile phones active in the area and investigations narrowed down on the accused. Then police found a witness who had last seen the minor with her brother. He was called for interrogation during which he confessed to have committed the crime, police said. He and his three friends were arrested on Saturday.
Police said it appeared that the accused had taken the 10-year-old to an isolated spot to kill her. However, after reaching the location, they gangraped the minor girl.
Initial investigation revealed that the accused considered her sister a liability as she was unable to do her daily chores and did not have control on her bowel movements.
A case has been registered and investigations have begun, police added.
