The decision of the Andhra Pradesh government to sell immovable assets belonging to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has drawn widespread condemnation from all quarters. The TTD had issued an order to sell over 23 properties of TTD in various parts of Tamil Nadu through a public action.

The decision was taken by the TTD Trust meeting held on 29th February this year but the move became public only recently after the Endowment board issued the order to this effect on April 30th.

TTD has setup two teams for the sale of its properties located at 23 locations in Tamil Nadu. The 2 teams will have 8 officers. The board has also asked the authorities to finalize the rules regarding the public auction to sell the properties.

Sources tell that after the outrage over the move, the AP government is reportedly having second thoughts on the auction and might withdraw the order. However, there is no official confirmation from the state government yet.
