The Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of Awutu Senya East, Michael Mensah has rubbished allegations that he has mobilised people to threaten the National Democratic’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Phyllis Naa Koryoo so she would step down from the race.

Describing the allegation as "class prefect politics”, the MCE slammed the candidate saying it is shocking that someone aspiring to be an MP would make such frivolous allegation.

The NDC candidate is alleging that the MCE has paid some individuals to threaten her with death.

The candidate alleged that strange numbers have been sending frightening messages to her cautioning her to step down from her position lest she’d be assassinated.

But reacting to the allegation, the MCE laughed and insisted the NPP does not have any interest in threatening people to step down from the NDC.

He said: "if the NDC is trying to maker her step down, they should stop. We want her to contest so we can defeat her. When electing, candidates, you have to elect someone with the base to garner more votes. You have elected someone without any base and so you have started using this agenda for sympathy votes.”

He said if the candidate was truthful to herself, she would have petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department(CID) to investigate the matter.

Meanwhile, he has also opined the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Dramani Mahama is not marketable.

The MCE says the NDC has regretted electing the former president because he does not have what it takes to win the polls.

Mr. Mensah was optimistic the NPP will win the polls because they are in touch with the grassroot and done enough to win the trust of the people.
