Prison officers, others defy ban on social gathering

Two prison officers were spotted consuming alcohol Sunday night at Koforidua the Eastern Regional capital with dozens of others in blatant disregard to the ban on public gathering and closure of drinking spots.
The prison officers and other revelers were seen drinking at Total-2 drinking spot which has defiantly reopen to the public.
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture on May 13, 2020 nullified initial attempt by Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to open drinking bars and night clubs which have been closed since March 15 by the President as part of measures to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
The Ministry in a counter statement stated that, “food chains and restaurants (including hotel restaurants) can operate takeout and delivery service only. Drinking bars and all night clubs remain closed.”
One twenty-five (125 ) COVID-19 cases recorded between Sunday and Monday dawn in Ghana has raised the country’s case count to 6,808.
The figure stood at 6,683 as of Sunday morning.
The recoveries now stand at 2,070 while the death toll remains at 32, according to the Ghana Health Service data.
