A popular New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Group in Bole town known as the ‘Agabuto Boys’ said they have quit the party over what they said is the disrespect and neglect by the leadership of the party including the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole Madam Veronica Alele Heming and went ahead to warn the leadership of the party never to step foot at their camp in Bole.

Members of the group made this known to Bole based Nkilgi FM after they held a number of meetings and took their final step to quit the NPP yesterday 23rd May, 2020, after a lengthy meeting that went deep into the night to deliberate on their decision.

The ‘Agabuto Boys’ are well known NPP Youth who served as Polling Station Agents and also served as the vigilante group of the NPP in the Bole-Bamboi Constituency which is a National Democratic Congress (NDC) stronghold. The group were the fulcrum through which most activities of the NPP in the Bole- Bamboi Constituency revolve and also contributed immensely to the NPP by making their own billboards and also campaigning vigorously for the party across the Constituency.

Five members of the ‘Agabuto Boys’ NPP group spoke to Nkilgi Fm expressing their frustration and making a lot of revelations on happenings within the NPP in the area.

A well known Youth Activist in Bole and NPP member of the group Adams Abdulai a.k.a Culture said; “a political party is not a religion and even religion, people do change from one to the other- we have fought for the party for 8 years in opposition and is now almost four years and nothing is happening. We know how they settle party boys even those that are not educated. At least some contractor for the boys to also come together and do to feel appreciative”.

Abutu Abubakari a.k.a Bhim who was also another loyal member of the NPP and known for his bravery said; “From today onwards, nobody in NPP should count us as members of the NPP. If you in a party which lacks respect for its members you leave. It seems our people don’t appreciate all we have done, sacrificing ourselves for the party”.

Rashid Gbagbo said they have been following the party for a very long time without achieving anything.

“We have been following the party for a very long time, but just because we have ‘useless’ leaders in the party, we have not gotten anything till date”; Gbagbo bemoaned.

Another staunch member of the NPP and member of the group Mr. Seidu said; “Everybody knows we fought for the party in opposition to win power, but after the party came to power, the DCE Madam Veronica Alele Alele Heming, the party Chairman Mr Sulemana Zakaria and the Parliamentary Candidate Mr David Sei Demah ignored us”.

Mr Abdul Razak said; “We suffered for good 8 years to bring the party to power, thinking our suffering was coming to an end not knowing that was where our suffering was starting.

He added, "So we want to tell the NPP in Bole to know that the NPP led by the DCE, the party Chairman and the executives and the party can not help us. So we have decided to quit the party and help ourselves.

Meanwhile, some more members of the NPP in the Bole-Bamboi Constituency have disclosed to Nkilgi FM they will also quit the party if leaders of their leaders refuse to bring those staunch members back.

The ‘Agabuto Boys’ have not indicated whether they will join another party or not.
