Flight cancellations leave domestic passengers confused

by

India’s domestic air travel has resumed but on a slightly chaotic note. Several flights have cancelled, thereby creating panic and confusion among travellers.

As per industry reports, over 80 (both departures and arrivals) were cancelled by this afternoon at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi due to various reasons including state government restrictions and state decision to limit air operations, among others.

Twitter is abuzz with tweets by passengers who have reached airports across India only to realise that their flights have been cancelled.

Business Traveller India contacted Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to get clarification on these cancellations. They said that the airport was originally scheduled to handle over 100 flights, however, the state government on Sunday capped this number to 25 departures and 25 arrivals. Latest schedule can be viewed here.

Bengaluru Airport is also said to have cancelled few flights. However, we are yet to receive a confirmation on this.

“Operations to and from West Bengal will commence on May 28 on a limited scale, as requested by the state government. Similarly, operations in Andhra Pradesh will resume on a limited scale from May 26,” said Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India in an official tweet.
