Arkansas reports 107 new cases of coronavirus, 1 more death

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas health officials reported 107 new cases of COVID-19 Monday and one additional death linked to the disease caused by coronavirus.

There have been 6,029 confirmed cases of the virus in Arkansas, according to the Arkansas Department of Health. The true number is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.

The state has reported 117 deaths related to the virus. Nearly 4,250 state residents have recovered from the disease.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
